Rioja Spain's best known region and, interestingly, one of the most recognisable brand names in Europe. Based in or close to the Cantabrian mountains with the River Ebro flowing through its heartland, the area produces a range of styles of red and white to appeal to a wide range of palates and pockets. Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano grapes prevail in the reds and Viura and Malvasia in whites.
