This is the Massolino's foray into a Barolo in the modern idiom, without overdoing the ripeness of the fruit and obscuring the region's fine heritage of masculine, tannic wines. Serralunga is a distinct zone within the Barolo DOCG and has a reputation for producing some of the finest wines from the area.
Frist impressions on the nose are of chocolate and truffles, with hints of liqourice. Good depth of flavour and tannins on the palate, very well balanced to show some elegance and then at the finish, gamey flavours, tannins that fill out, all leading to a long finish.
